VISA AND PASSPORT GUIDE TO TANZANIA

WILL I NEED A PASSPORT?

Yes. Passports are needed when traveling to Tanzania. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months, and a tourist visa will be valid for three months from the time it is granted. Akondo Adventures recommends that your passport contains at least two unused, facing visa pages (3 pages for Tanzania).

VISAS (GENERAL INFORMATION)

You are responsible for obtaining all necessary visas prior to your tour departure. Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter Tanzania, and obtaining a visa can take up to six weeks.

CAN I GET A VISA ON ARRIVAL?

Traveling to Tanzania for the first time can be an exciting but also somewhat daunting experience. One common concern that may arise is the visa process. Fortunately, Tanzania offers a convenient visa-on-arrival option for many travelers. This means that upon arrival at the airport, you can easily obtain your visa within just a few minutes.

It’s important to note that while this visa-on-arrival is guaranteed for citizens of European and American countries, it may not be available for all nationalities. Some countries may need to apply for their visa before arriving in Tanzania.

Overall, the visa process for Tanzania is relatively straightforward, and with the visa-on-arrival option, travelers can feel more at ease knowing they can sort out their entry documentation upon landing in the country.

APPLYING FOR A VISA ONLINE:

A visa can be applied for online, but you should check for eligibility first. The online application may take up to 10 working days. While applying for a visa, you should know the kind of visa you need to apply for. Visitors from other countries need to apply for an Ordinary Visa, except for Americans who are required to apply for a Multiple Visa. For a more convenient visa application, visit the Official Site for Visa Application: https://visa.immigration.go.tz/guidelines

The visa fee varies from one country to another and depends on the type of visa. It starts from 50 USD for most countries, but for Americans, it is 100 USD.

REFERRAL VISA:

Visitors from Referral Visa countries are required to apply for a visa only and are advised to do so 2 months before their safari dates. Note that people from Referral Visa countries cannot get a visa on arrival, and their application approval may take longer than other visas. During your application, you will be asked for an introduction letter. Akondo Adventures will provide the letter only to visitors who are eligible to enter Tanzania after we ask you to share some of your documents, including your passport. Akondo Adventures experts will help you with the necessary requirements in case you need more advice during your application process.
