Arrive in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city and major international gateway. After clearing customs, a driver will meet and transfer you to your hotel for rest and recovery after your journey. Start early with a domestic flight to Kigoma, followed by breakfast at Kigoma Hilltop Hotel. Then, take a scenic 1-hour boat ride across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe National Park, one of the most remote and biologically rich parks in Africa. In the afternoon, hike to a picturesque waterfall, with opportunities to see colobus monkeys, baboons, and tropical birds. Swim in the natural pool beneath the falls or take a kayak out onto the lake. End your day with a relaxing dinner at the lodge.

After breakfast, head deep into the Gombe forest for a full-day chimpanzee trekking expedition. Your expert guide will help you track the chimps based on their movements. Along the way, you’ll learn about the park’s unique biodiversity, from its birdlife to rare forest flora.

Once you find a chimpanzee group, enjoy an intimate hour observing their behaviours in the wild playing, feeding, grooming, and more. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and enjoy a free afternoon by the lake or in your tented suite. After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight from Kigoma to Dar es Salaam, and then onward to Zanzibar. On arrival in Zanzibar, a driver will transfer you to your luxury hotel in Stone Town. Take the rest of the day to relax or explore the UNESCO World Heritage alleys of this historic spice port.  You transition from rainforest trekking to the tranquil shores of the Indian Ocean.
