Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a friendly member of the Akondo Adventures team who will transfer you to Four Points by Sheraton Dar es Salaam Hotel and assist with your check-in.

You may choose to relax at the hotel or explore Dar es Salaam at your leisure, before your exciting Tanzanian adventure begins the following day.

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam at 08:30 and transferred to the airport for your scheduled flight to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve).

Upon arrival at the airstrip, your driver-guide will welcome you and take you on a game drive through the park before assisting you with check-in at the camp. In the afternoon, continue exploring the park on another exciting game drive, returning to camp at dusk to relax and enjoy drinks around the campfire.

During these days, you will explore Nyerere National Park on full-day game drives. The game drive usually starts at 7:30 AM and ends around 5:00 PM, after which you will return to the lodge for a relaxing sundowner. You may also choose to add extra activities such as a walking safari or a sunset boat safari. Each day, your guide will share the schedule with you, and together you can plan the activities to ensure the best possible experience.

Nyerere National Park has one of the highest concentrations of elephants in Tanzania and is estimated to host about one-third of the country’s African wild dogs. The landscape is mostly flat and dominated by miombo woodlands. Predators such as lions, leopards, and wild dogs are commonly found in the reserve. There is also a wide variety of prey animals, including wildebeest, buffalo, warthogs, and impalas.

The river system supports a rich diversity of birdlife. Its banks provide nesting sites for bee-eaters, while kingfishers are often seen fishing along the water’s edge.

An early morning walk or game drive will bring you back to the lodge in time for breakfast before departing to the airstrip for your onward flight to Ruaha National Park.

Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airstrip and transfer you to the lodge, where they will assist you with check-in. Depending on your preference and arrival time, you may also opt for a short game drive later in the day.

During your stay at Ruaha River Lodge, you can choose between half-day game drives or full-day game drives with a picnic lunch, promising an action-packed experience in the wild and untouched Tanzanian bush.

During these two days, you may also choose to add an unforgettable hot air balloon safari for a unique aerial view of the stunning landscapes of Ruaha National Park. Each evening, you will return to the lodge to relax and enjoy beautiful sundowners as the sun sets over the African wilderness.

After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to enjoy one final game drive in Ruaha as you slowly make your way to the airstrip for your onward flight to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar.

We are also happy to extend your journey by adding a few relaxing days at the beach in Zanzibar or at a nearby coastal destination such as Lazy Lagoon Island. This beautiful private island offers a peaceful escape and a variety of enjoyable activities.

During your stay at Lazy Lagoon Island Lodge, you can choose to do as little or as much as you like. Activities available include snorkelling, swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. It is a perfect place to unwind after your safari while enjoying the stunning ocean views and tranquil island atmosphere.
