Open floodplains, wildlife and a welcoming introduction to Tanzania’s southern circuit.
Mikumi National Park is known for the Mkata floodplain, framed by hills and woodland. Giraffes, zebras and other plains wildlife make game drives rewarding, while the wider landscape links the park with southern Tanzania’s mountain and wilderness areas. Mikumi can stand alone as a short safari or form part of a longer southern route. Pair wildlife viewing with the forests of Udzungwa, or continue toward Ruaha when your travel time allows.
