Stanley’s Kopje Camp

Mikumi National Park

Stanley’s Kopje Camp

Stanley’s Kopje, part of the Foxes Safari Camps family, holds the unique distinction of being the only camp in Mikumi National Park set atop a rocky kopje on the Mkata flood plain. Perched high with 360-degree views over the Mikumi wilderness, its 12 tents are spaced around the lower perimeter of the hill on raised wooden platforms with traditionally built thatched roofs and private verandas overlooking the plains. Its elevated position directly overlooks the Mwanamboga waterhole, widely considered the best game-viewing spot in the park — meaning guests can watch wildlife come and go without even leaving camp.

The surrounding Mikumi National Park offers golden grasslands rich in big game and a wide variety of birds, set against the backdrop of the Uluguru Mountains and Mikumi Hills. The dry season from June through to end of November offers the highest concentrations of wildlife, and the camp closes at the end of February before reopening each June. Guest reviews rave about the unbeatable views, comfortable tents, the dream-like experience of watching animals at the waterhole from the veranda at sunrise, and the exceptional skill of the safari guides in spotting wildlife.
